A Corridor Town, Not a Downtown
Hampstead is unincorporated Pender County, roughly 17 to 24 miles northeast of Wilmington along US 17 (NCDOT is currently building the Hampstead Bypass to ease that corridor). Depending on traffic, the drive runs 25 to 40 minutes, longer at peak commute times. It is not a beach town on its own, though Topsail Island, Surf City, and Topsail Beach sit just north. It is a residential and commuter corridor: people who work in Wilmington but live, shop, and hire local along US 17.
That spread-out shape matters for SEO. There is no single "downtown Hampstead" the way there is a downtown Wilmington, so search behavior leans harder on "near me" and highway-corridor searches instead of a neighborhood name. A contractor, a marina, or a home services business here needs a Google Business Profile and service-area setup built around that reality, not a template built for a town with a Main Street.
